This piece is called Gold, composed by Nistha Raj, based on Raag Darbari and it was commissioned by Strathmore and premiered on February 26, 2014.

I wrote the piece to showcase the 5 wonderful percussionists I had perform with me at the concert because it was a rare occasion to have such diverse percussion instruments all in 1 concert. The rhythm came to me first which I used as the basis to design the composition and I then added the melody. The melody is based on Raag Darbari which is a very somber raag that is traditionally played deep into the night but holds a majestic appeal. I named the piece Gold because it expresses how I feel about music. Most people regard gold as highly valuable, something that you keep in a safe place so not to lose it. Those who have it are considered to be rich. So for me my sentiment toward music is the same, the more music I have in my life, the more rich I feel and music is something that I keep very close to my heart and never want to lose. I am golden with music in my life.
